Most of our Math tutors have experience teaching in the school system and are on top of the contents taught in the BC curriculum. If not, they have a relevant graduate degree and subject matter expertise.

Additionally, all of our tutors are screened and have passed their criminal record checks. Our tutors love to teach, and our students benefit from working with them.

For students struggling with Math

Algebra in a way it makes sense

Algebra is the study of variables and the rules for manipulating these variables in formulas. It means a big step into abstraction when compared to arithmetic. Some school curriculums start teaching Algebra as early as grade 8 or even earlier.

For many students, this step into abstraction can bring a lot of frustration into the Math’s studies.  It can prove challenging to connect Algebra to their day-today lives and explain why it’s worth understanding.

Our Math tutors do their best to help their students to understand Algebra concepts intuitively and problem-solve. We support Math learning by teaching the way that makes sense to students.

Building confidence in Algebra

During our Math tutoring lessons, tutors provide constructive feedback to students based on their performance and goals. Students feel better prepared for exams and have increased confidence.

Overcome homework frustration

Our tutors help students build solid study and organizational skills, which will benefit them throughout their academic careers.

Cost of tutoring broken down

TTS is a non profit society – as such, our goal is to provide you with affordable, high quality tutoring, while minimizing cost. The bulk of the $53/hr hourly rate is paid to the tutor, while a small portion covers off TTS administration and staffing charges.

Additionally, a portion of the tutoring rate is donated to TAS Tutoring Aid Society. TAS is our registered BC charity that provides subsidized tutoring services to students that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford tutoring.
