For students struggling with English
Learning English in a way it makes sense
English Language Learning can be fun. Our tutors do their best to foster a taste for reading and writing in their students. The development of literacy skills, especially at younger ages, can be instrumental to a child’s transition into an enthusiastic learner who looks forward to going to school.
English Language Learning (ELL)
At school, students have varied levels of English language proficiency and may need very different kinds of support to succeed in the classroom. This can become challenging as it can affect the learning of other subjects in school.
Learning English as a second language doesn’t need to be a burden. Our tutors help their students build English proficiency by incorporating real-world examples into their tutoring.
Building confidence in English
Non-English speaking students may lack the confidence to be verbally actively engaged in the classroom. A good grasp of the language is essential to communication, and an important part of gaining both confidence and enjoyment in the learning process.
Confidence in English, and fluency, can be built throughout time with proper support from private tutoring. During lessons, our tutors provide constructive feedback to students based on their performance and goals.
Students feel better prepared for exams and have increased confidence in their English language skills. Many past clients have contacted us with positive feedback regarding their boost in confidence.
English Exam preparations
Our private English lessons can help you boost your scores. We provide English lessons not only for children, but for adults as well. This individualized attention and a customized study plan can be just the push you need to achieve your academic or immigration goals.
English for academic purposes
In order to enroll in academic or career training programs, many students are requested to demonstrate English Language Proficiency. The most common exams required for this proof are IELTS and CELPIP.
English test for Canadian immigration
The Canadian government requires most immigrants to prove their language skills by taking an approved language test. Applicants that speak English can either take the CELPIP-General test or the IELTS General Training option. After the test, you will get a Canadian Language Benchmark.
Depending on your score, you may gain more points under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or Canadian Experience Class Program. That’s why it is so important to have good preparation for the English exams. Our tutors can help you with that.

Still wondering about tutoring costs in Vancouver?
Cost of tutoring broken down
TTS is a non profit society – as such, our goal is to provide you with affordable, high quality tutoring, while minimizing cost. The bulk of the $55/hr hourly rate is paid to the tutor, while a small portion covers off TTS administration and staffing charges.
Additionally, a portion of the tutoring rate is donated to TAS Tutoring Aid Society. TAS is our registered BC charity that provides subsidized tutoring services to students that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford tutoring.
