Additionally, all of our tutors are screened and have gone through a criminal record check. Our tutors love to teach, and our students benefit from working with them.

For students struggling with Social Studies

Social Studies in a way it makes sense
The main purpose of the Social Studies is to develop skills, and competencies to be active, informed citizens. The subject encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including History, Geography, Law, First Peoples studies, Philosophy, and more.
Despite its importance, many students struggle to stay engaged with Social Studies. Some may view it as less interesting or less practical than subjects like Math or English, while others find its concepts challenging because they are often more abstract than those found in the sciences. In addition, limited vocabulary or lack of reading practice can make it difficult for students to clearly express their ideas and arguments.
Our social studies tutors in Vancouver personalize each tutoring session to meet your child’s unique learning needs. Our goal is not only to help students succeed in the classroom, but also to ensure they develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter that stays with them long term.
Developing writing skills
Success in Social Studies depends heavily on strong writing skills. Our Social Studies tutors place a strong emphasis on helping students improve their ability to research, organize, and clearly communicate their ideas in writing. These skills are essential not only in middle and high school, but also at the post-secondary level and in the professional world.
Students learn how to structure essays and support their arguments with strong evidence. With guidance from our experienced social studies tutors in Vancouver, students become more disciplined, organized, and articulate writers.

Social Studies Subjects We Cover
Our qualified Social Studies tutors will help students gain a deeper understanding of one’s community, nation, and world. We carefully assess the capabilities and needs of each student, so that the coaching is personally tailored.
We work with students from Elementary through High School and provide support across a wide range of Social Studies subjects, including: National and World History, Geography, Law, First Peoples studies, Philosophy, Political Science, and more.

Still wondering about tutoring costs in Vancouver?
Cost of tutoring broken down
TTS is a non profit society – as such, our goal is to provide you with affordable, high quality tutoring, while minimizing cost. The bulk of the $57/hr hourly rate is paid to the tutor, while a small portion covers off TTS administration and staffing charges.
Additionally, a portion of the tutoring rate is donated to TAS Tutoring Aid Society. TAS is our registered BC charity that provides subsidized tutoring services to students that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford tutoring.
