Math Tutor UBC

Preparing for UBC

Are you a high school student preparing for being accepted at UBC? With an average acceptance rate of 52%, UBC is fairly demanding to enter. All first-year Calculus courses at UBC require successful completion of grade 12 Pre-Calculus Math (BC Pre-Calculus 12 or its equivalent). UBC does not offer courses equivalent to grade 12 pre-calculus Math. Additionally, all B.Sc. students must successfully complete appropriate foundational courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

If you need to complete a Pre-Calculus Math course for entrance to UBC and you feel that your Math skills need a boost, consider hiring a private Math tutor. It’s a temporary commitment that will probably help you get further in a shorter time.

How many Math lessons do I need?

Estimating the number of tutoring sessions needed for a student varies a lot depending on the student background and the course requirements.

For students who already have a solid Pre-Calculus background, they may require help only on homework problems and exam preparation. We would suggest maybe having one to two hours lessons per week.

For students having trouble understanding the concepts during class, we would recommends two or more 2-hour lessons per week.
